On my way to the DMV For VIN verification with CHP done so we can get a reissued title.
Will I succeed?
Will I be thwarted by some cruel twist of California’s Byzantine bureaucracy?
Will I be arrested for driving an unregistered vehicle? (I get the -1 middle aged white privilege handicap on this option - 50/50 I talk my way out if pulled over.)
Pumpkin doubts my competence, and is not optimistic.

I wish you the best of luck! The last time I bought a car that had a reconstructed/ reissued title the previous-previous-previous owner reported it stolen and was a thorn in my side for two years. Fun times!

That car really does look cool. 70 green cars make me happy, the patina is just a bonus

Based on what I’ve heard about California you’re going to visit the DMV seven or eight times and if you weren’t a lawyer, it’d be totally chill to drive the thing anyway...

Or will you run out of gas on the way?
Go to Triple-A.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Pumpkin doesn’t care. And Pumpkin would try to slay you if it seemed plausible to Pumpkin.

I hope your title quest is as easy as mine was for my Camaro. All it took me was a notarized bill of sale and a lost title submission, but this isn’t California. Fingers crossed!

I haven’t tried anything at the DMV with my truck yet, it isn’t ready to go driving yet so I’m waiting. I guess I’ll just take it down there with the old MA plates, my 1952 plates and paperwork when I go. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to go there before I drive the truck, but they have to inspect it? I have insurance now for it with all my other at State Farm. They didn’t know what it was and had to get back to me, they just asked what it was worth. I can’t wait to get the DMV settled and then I can just do reg on the Internet from now on. All the appointments are booked for weeks.
